Lori Milken

Lori Milken has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Milken Family Foundation since its inception in 1982, and has played an active role in establishing relationships between the Foundation and organizations that are doing critical work to advance the Foundation's mission in the areas of education and medical research. In the field of education she served on the Board of Overseers at the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania from 1990-1998. She was also on the Board of Trustees at the Brentwood School in Los Angeles from 1994-2000. During that tenure she served as chairperson of the Diversity Committee for three years and chairperson of the Education Committee for five years. In addition, she was on the Board of Trustees of the Milken Community High School in Los Angeles from 2000-2009, serving on its Education Committee for several of those years.

Ms. Milken has played a critical role in the Milken Scholars initiative since its inception in 1989. She has participated in the annual selection process and provides direction for new program developments while maintaining relationships with many of the Scholars. In addition, she serves on the board of the Milken Institute.

In the medical field, Ms. Milken serves on the board of the Prostate Cancer Foundation. She was also one of the founding members of the Board of Directors of the Mattel Children's Hospital at U.C.L.A. She has served on its Executive Committee and was chairperson of the Event Planning Committee for several years. In addition, her commitment to the needs of children is furthered through her membership on the board of the Southern California chapter of UNICEF.

An ardent supporter of access to the arts for people of all ages, she served on the Board of Trustees of the American Ballet Theatre and is currently on the Board of Trustees of the Los Angeles Ballet.

In addition to her philanthropic endeavors, Ms. Milken is co-founder and publisher of Delphinium Books formed in 1988. One of Delphinium's titles, Homestead, by Rosina Lippi, earned the Penn/Hemingway Award for first fiction, the most prestigious award in that category.

Ms. Milken received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California at Berkeley and a Master of Science degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
